New iPhone App Helps You Get Things Done the Seinfeld Way

Sollentuna,  SE   Apr 22, 2009 in Productivity

[prMac.com] Stockholm, Sweden - Ghost Park Software has released Actions 1.0, a new iPhone to-do list that helps you stay productive. There are a lot of iPhone to-do lists around, but Actions has a few novel features that separates it from the rest, in particular the Seinfeld Chain that motivates you to complete at least one to-do per day.

Each day you complete a to-do you are awarded a new link in the chain. If you don't complete a to-do, the chain breaks. By avoiding breaks in the chain, you form the habit of getting things done.

Jerry Seinfeld used such a chain at the start of his career to motivate himself to write a joke each day. "After a few days you'll have a chain. Just keep at it and the chain will grow longer every day. You'll like seeing that chain, especially when you get a few weeks under your belt. Your only job next is to not break the chain", Seinfeld said to the aspiring comic Brad Isaac.

Actions gives you several different views of your to-dos. You can group your to-dos both by context and project, which makes Actions suitable for the Getting Things Done (GTD) method. All the stuff that requires your attention can be viewed in one place. This includes items in your inbox, due items and projects that are stalled and need to be completed or have more to-dos added to them.

"Our main focus while designing Actions have been to give the user the full power of the GTD method without complicating things. We have not invented another productivity method but just tried to make GTD as simple as it can be, but no simpler", says Dennis Theng, developer and co-owner of Ghost Park Software.

Other features include a two-minute introduction to help you get started, a logbook of all completed to-dos, and a fast full-text search. Getting Things Done(R) is a simple and stress-free productivity method invented by David Allen that has gained a large and loyal following.

Pricing and Availability:
Actions runs on iPhone, iPhone 3G and iPod Touch with iPhone OS 2.2.1, costs $9.99 (US), and can be purchased at Apple's AppStore.
