ContactLaunch 2.2 for iOS: Face-Based, Address Book/App Launcher

May 18, 2012 - Indie developer John Parron has announced ContactLaunch 2.2 for iOS, an update to his face-based, Address Book/App Launcher app. Emphasizing faces, not names, the app features many ways to import photos. In addition, ContactLaunch can launch popular apps such as Skype, FaceTime, and 18 different Twitter clients, including such favorites as Tweetbot and Twitterrific. The app can also launch the iPhone's native Phone app, along with using iMessage to send SMS, and Mail to write an email.

iPad developers in China resort to grey-market imports for testing

Apr 21, 2012 - Leading developer, ReignDesign has revealed the difficulty they found obtaining a new iPad for testing "Flockwork", their upcoming puzzle game. Apple announced the new iPad with Retina display on March 7th, but the new device is not yet available in China. And developers in China have had to go to extreme lengths to import devices to use for testing. Until Apple's China product launch dates coincide with those of other major regions, most iPad developers in China are left with few options.

The AmbiLauncher application allows you to launch applications by moving the pointer quickly to the left or right edges of the screen and back. Only a couple of cursor movements, no clicking or whimsical key combinations. Divide the screen boundaries in sections, assign to them colors and applications.
